Mr. Duffer released the following statement on Friday, Sept. 22nd:

"This distinction [being named a TN Department of Education Reward School] is an equation with multiple variables that includes but is not limited to attendance rate, graduation rate, EOC achievement and growth, ACT participation and ACT school composite. The state looks at these areas and determines which schools score within the top 10% and place schools in the coveted class of REWARD SCHOOL.

"We have known and continue to know that we are all blessed with being in a special place such as Westmoreland High School! This school is established on a firm foundation built by those who came before us. Their efforts, struggles and selfless commitment to the excellence of tomorrow's generation have created a rich tradition that we rest beneath the comfort of as we implement policy in our day to day interactions with students. We, in recent years, have built upon that foundation and enhanced greatly that which we have inherited. I believe, with conviction, that we are excellent stewards of that with which we have been entrusted. What we do matters to the students we serve and the future generations of teachers who will fill these hallways and classrooms long after we are gone. "CongratulReward School 2018ations and Thank you" for your continued efforts in the job that each of you do!"
